On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Türkiye Chapter, proudly participated in the 62nd Africa Day celebration organized by TADD (Tüm Afrika’nın Dostları Derneği) at DoubleTree by Hilton, Topkapı, Istanbul. Our association was represented by the Public Relations Officer, Kolawole Saheed.
This vibrant event brought together African students, professionals, and friends of Africa in Türkiye to honour our shared heritage, unity, and the achievements of the African continent. Throughout the day, participants engaged in cultural performances, inspiring panel discussions, poetry recitals, and powerful messages about justice and media representation in Africa.
The highlight of the celebration for the Nigerian community was a captivating dance performance by Nigerian students, which energized the room and proudly showcased our rich cultural identity. Our students stood out, adding colour and vibrancy to the event while reminding everyone of the strength and beauty of Nigerian traditions.
Beyond the performances, the event provided an incredible opportunity for networking and exchange. We were thrilled to connect with other African student leaders, scholars, and allies of the African cause in Türkiye, building bridges of solidarity and support for the African student diaspora.
Special thanks to TADD for hosting such an inclusive and impactful gathering that emphasized the importance of African unity and the invaluable contributions of African students worldwide. We are especially grateful for the opportunity to represent Nigerian students at this remarkable event, reaffirming our commitment to advancing their interests and promoting cultural pride within the international student community.
As NANS Türkiye Chapter, we remain steadfast in our mission to foster unity, empowerment, and representation for Nigerian students in Türkiye. We look forward to more opportunities to uplift our voices, build connections, and celebrate our shared African identity with pride.
Let us continue to stand together, celebrate our diverse cultures, and work for a brighter future—because when African students unite, we are unstoppable.
